On Wednesday, June 24, we were able to drive up to Pocatello, ID just for the day to see Becca's grandparents. My Grandma woke up in the morning with a large black spot (due to bleeding) in one eye and had to be rushed up to Idaho Falls to see the doctor before we got there. She received a shot in her eye that we are hopeful will shrink the blood vessel and restore her sight. While she was away we were able to spend the day with my Grandpa.
My Mom entertained the kids so I could just sit and visit with my Grandpa. Usually when we are in Idaho I need to tend to my children, or all the cousins are there for the reunion and it's hard to get one-on-one time. It was truly a special day, and one I will remember forever. I tried to journal during the 3 hour hour car ride home all the things we were able to talk about and many of his memories that he shared with me. Some stories I had heard before, but most I had not. He is such an amazing man and I love him so much! I will forever be grateful to my mother for giving me the gift of that time spent with my Grandpa.
Late in the afternoon my Grandma returned home and she was able to meet Jessica for the first time briefly before she needed to lay down and keep her eyes closed. The doctor had bandaged the one eye pretty well with lots of gauze and medical tape. Jessica also enjoyed meeting her great-grandpa and kept making goo-goo eyes at him and flashing her huge grin whenever he talked to her.
Before we left we were able to get a quick picture of the kids with their great-grandpa.

Becca,
That is so special that you were able to spend some time with your grandfather. Your kids will be grateful that they have a picture of their great grandfather with them.
