Even though I already have posts set up through the end of July (love, love, LOVE being able to schedule posts in the future so I don't have to think about it everyday) the boys really wanted Daddy to see the pics of the BIG FLOOD we had today.
This is sidewalk area next to Grandma and Grandpa's house.
In this picture you can see the sidewalk, then the grass area then the road. You can see further down the road there is a section with no water, but is wet. We didn't let the kids out until the flood had REALLY started to go down.
At the far side of the park behind the house is a reservoir for irrigation water that has been fairly empty this week. Apparently, today the pump that puts water into the area was not shut off and caused the huge flooding down the street. It is weird to walk past the reservoir and see the water level all the way to the very top.
I LOVE this pic of the boys holding hands while braving the flood waters. :) They had a great time playing in the water and eating popsicles.
Some neighbors across the street were having a birthday party which turned into a swimming party in the middle of the street. In the intersection there were a lot of other children swimming, playing, boogie boarding, riding bikes, etc. We had to keep reminding the kids that even though the road was flooded, it was still a road and to move out of the way when cars came through. One kid got pretty creative and pulled out his skateboard to 'skateboard' through the water, but had his dog pulling him through the intersection.
